right now im listening to all time low for the first time. as soon as it started playing, it was so obvious that theyre what every young band is copying. everything makes so much more sense now.
i was a little disappointed by the new david bazan album on first listen, but i think i had a strong case of demo-itis from listening to and loving the live version i’d heard. but this week i’ve been coming around to it in a big way. great lyrics, great production, great performances. highly recommended.
A few words about our new cassette Thyme Travel.
Thyme Travel consists of four new songs recorded in the past 6 months or so. These songs are:
The songs themselves are mostly quiet and somber, and aren’t necessarily indicative of the future sound of Mansions. However, they are a prime example of the more introspective and solo side of Mansions. Tracks 1, 2, and 4 were recorded during an especially quiet week of house-sitting for my parents alone in Louisville in January. I didn’t tell anyone I was in town and instead spent my time recording alone. I think the songs definitely reflect that. All the songs are new except for “Family Dinner Week,” which a couple people might remember from back in the day of my old band Once More.
Only 190 copies are being made. One hundred for sale here through Doghouse, and the other 90 through us on tour.
new mansions song, “All Those Dreams,” off upcoming mellow cassette called Thyme Travel.
i basically never saw that the manbox EP ever came out on itunes. we did the small CDR release and i forgot that it was coming out digitally too, but its been out for a few months now. i listened to it for the first time in a while the other day, and i think its really cool.
