our album “New Best Friends” was released one year ago today. happy birthday! in celebration i am posting this song “rock n roll.” it’s a ryan adams cover that was on the Black Sheep EP from the ep initiative, but not on the bonus disc that comes with the album. we decided not to deal with getting permission for the song, so we just left it out of the ep initiative collection. i totally forgot it even existed until a couple weeks ago, but i actually really like it.

Best of the Bees Contest
Doghouse Records is looking to acquire some bees illustration to make a few hand-screened limited (to about 50) 11x17 poster for Mansions latest release, Best of the Bees [http://mansions.bandcamp.com/]. To do this, we decided to launch a little contest.
Here’s how it works:
1. Draw some bees
2. E-mail your hi-res drawing to mansionscontest@doghouserecords.com (send a yousendit or sendspace link if over 10MB) along with your name and location
3. All the best drawings will be included in the final hand-screened 11x17 poster (with name credited)
4. All selected will also receive a copy of the poster in the mail
5. One overall winner will receive the entire Mansions discography thus far (self-titled EP, New Best Friends, The EP Initiative [link], Thyme Travel)

today we are releasing “best of the bees,” a collection of our favorite b-sides we put out in 2008-2009. if you like us, then you’ve probably already heard and/or payed for them in various form, but we wanted to make it easy to find the best ones, and give you digital versions of some that were in weird formats (ie cassette). plus some of the mixes have been tweaked/improved, and it has been mastered.
that’s why we’re letting you PAY WHAT YOU WANT for it. take it for free if you’re just interested in checking it out, toss us some dollars if you wanna be extra supportive. any money goes straight to us, not to itunes or any of that jazz.
